The European map above, (as agreed at the Congress of Vienna of 1815), saw some changes, (principally due to the emergence of Belgium and Greece), before the onset of the European Revolutions of 1848-1849. Revolutions of 1848, series of republican revolts against European monarchies, beginning in Sicily and spreading to France, Germany, Italy, and the Austrian Empire. The revolutions all ultimately ended in failure and repression, and they were followed by widespread disillusionment among liberals. The revolutions spread from France across Europe; they erupted soon thereafter in Austria and Germany, beginning with the large demonstrations on March 13, 1848, in Vienna. This resulted in the resignation of Prince von Metternich as chief minister to Emperor Ferdinand I of Austria , and his going into exile in Britain.

2021-03-29 · German federation and the shortlived german empire (1848-1849) are exactly the same. They are only named different and have a different governing/state structure.
